Recovery timeline
- First 24–48 hours
Mild redness and warmth
Mild redness and darker-looking spots are normal; a cool compress helps.
- Days 2–7
Darkening and fine crusts
Spots darken and turn into fine, coffee-ground-like crusts — an expected part of the process.
- Days 7–14
Crusts shed
Crusts fall off, revealing lighter skin. Sun protection is most critical now.
- Weeks 4–6
Result and check-up
Tone settles; we review the result together at your check-up.
Aftercare
- 1Avoid direct sun for 2 weeks; wear a wide-brimmed hat outdoors.
- 2Use broad-spectrum SPF 50 daily and reapply every 2–3 hours outdoors.
- 3Do not pick or scratch crusts; let them shed naturally.
- 4Avoid sauna, steam room, sunbeds, intense exercise and pools for a week.
- 5Pause peels, acids and retinol unless recommended.
- 6Keep skin cleansed gently and moisturised.
- 7Keep your check-up so we can review the result together.
